Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Desperate Measures – Marlena Tries To Help Steve With Hypnotism To Bring Up His Subconscious Memories

Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) will try to help Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) with hypnotism to bring up his subconscious memories in an upcoming episode of Days of Our Lives!

Steve Johnson Woke Up From Surgery With Amnesia

Steve Johnson, after an hours long surgery to remove the microchip that contained Stefano DiMera’s (Stephen Nichols) “essence” which turned him into Stefano DiMera (Stephen Nichols), woke up with a case of amnesia, that was difficult to tell whether it stemmed from a case of brainwashing previous to the implantation of the microchip, or if it was due to something with the anesthesia or the complication that arose in the surgery, where Dr. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) had to cut into his frontal lobe to cut out the microchip, which had been booby trapped to self-destruct!

The frontal lobe of the brain is what controls memories, as well as the ability to know right and wrong and making decisions. Kayla worries that she may have damaged his brain when she cut out the microchip, but it was either that or the chip self-destruct somehow inside his brain, which was likely to have more deadly consequences – but the countdown timer did stop talking when she took it out!

But now Steve doesn’t remember even who he is now, let alone who he used to be. Marlena, however, thinks that the memories may have been pushed down into Steve’s subconscious since the MRI that was taken of Steve’s brain after the surgery was completed and he woke up showed no physical damage that could account for the total amnesia. And again, it is possible that some pre-surgery brainwashing could have occurred. There is just no way to know for certain, because Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) will not cooperate with anything concerning Stefano!

Dr. Marlena Evans Thinks That She Can Bring Steve Johnson’s Subconscious Memories Up By Hypnosis

Dr. Marlena Evans thinks that she can bring Steve Johnson’s subconscious memories up to the surface by hypnosis, using methods that are often used on childhood victims of abuse who are having nightmares or symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder to get to the source of the post-traumatic stress and be able to heal from and deal with the root of the problems.

She doesn’t think that it is possible that Steve’s brain and psyche could have been totally drained for the Stefano personality to take over through the microchip, because if it had, his organs would have failed and he would have died, or at the best he would have become totally paralyzed and incapacitated. She will have to hypnotize Steve first and try to draw him out by a series of questions, but they cannot be leading questions – she is not trying to put memories into his mind, she is trying to find existing memories and bring them up.

She may show photographs supplied by Kayla of important events in their lives – maybe some wedding photos, baby photos of their children, maybe some photos of his parents. Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) may be able to supply some photos of Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans) Steve’s late sister and Justin’s late wife that Marlena can show him to try to spark some long ago memories. Marlena hopes that the techniques she has used to bring repressed memories to the surface will bring up Steve’s subconscious memories and help him to overcome the amnesia.
