EastEnders Spoilers: Ross Kemp Hints Possible Comeback

EastEnders’ Ross Kemp hinted that he could be lured back to the show by new boss Kate Oates. Kemp said he’s been hearing a lot of good things about the new showrunner and added that he would love to talk to her for a possible comeback.

“Everybody is saying how fantastic she is and I would love to meet her and have a chat,” Kemp said, per Digital Spy. “But it’s down to her, not me. It’s always a big undertaking working on a soap, but you would never say never.”

Kemp’s comments came after Kate Oates teased that she will be bringing back three major EastEnders character this year. Among those who will make a comeback are Ben Mitchell, who will be played by a different actor, Lola Pearce, and Sean Slater.

Kemp made his debut as Grant Mitchell in 1990 and continued to play the role for nine years. He reappeared again in 2005 and stayed for one year. After leaving EastEnders for the second time, Kemp reprised the role in January 2016 to help in the exit storyline of her onscreen mother Peggy (Barbara Windsor).

The 81-year-old actress passed away onscreen as she had to leave the show because of Alzheimer’s. He reappeared on the show for another three weeks and a few more between July and September of that same year.

Kemp also mentioned how relieved he is that Windsor still recognized him despite her condition. He said he tries to see Windsor as often as he can. The actress suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and this was only made public last year.

Windsor has known for a long time that she had the degenerative disease. She was diagnosed with it in April 2004 and received treatment in private. Her husband Scott Mitchell came forward about her chronic neurodegenerative disease last year when her condition has worsened. Kemp praised Scott Mitchell for taking such good care of the iconic actress.
