Coronation Street’s Boat Fire Sets Stage For 6 New Storylines

In last Wednesday’s explosive episode of “Coronation Street,” viewers saw a fire swallow Peter Barlow’s boat. The boat fire put Simon’s life in danger. Fortunately, Peter arrived just in time to save his son. There were no casualties and no one sustained major injuries. However, the incident cleverly set the stage for six new storylines that will keep fans at the edge of their seat.

First up is finding out who the culprit is. Rumors have circulated that Roy Cropper is the man behind the boat fire. According to the leaks, which were reported last month, Roy, who has been sleepwalking, accidentally knocked over a hurricane lamp, which triggered the fire and nearly killed Simon Barlow. If the reports are correct, then Roy might find it hard to accept what he did especially with his current emotional state.

Another person of interest, who Peter thinks is responsible for the boat fire, is Abi. He accuses her of setting the boat on fire due to her drunken rage after being rejected by him. Cathy, later on, gives her an alibi saying that she saw Abi in town at the time of the boat incident.

It’s not just Abi. Peter will also accuse Carla that she was responsible for the boat fire. Peter’s suspicions that she is the arsonist grows stronger when the local authorities discover that the CCTV footage from the factory is missing. Peter believes that Carla deleted the video to cover her tracks.

Gary will also be on the spotlight after the boat fire. As expected, the Platts will be requiring some major repair work and they will tap Gary for the job. He welcomes the offer but inflates the quotes so he could generate some much-needed cash. This would definitely spell trouble once Sarah finds out that Gary is cheating her family.

The boat fire also damaged the roof at the Underworld. Although it might get repaired, spoilers revealed that another major accident will happen at the Underworld, which will claim the life of one person. Perhaps Gary has something to do with the accident since he is expected to do the repair. It could also be Carla, whose negligence leads to the factory roof collapse.

Lastly, the boat fire and impending factory roof collapse could leave Peter with a huge decision to make. He’ll be in a situation where he has to choose between his son, his future, or Carla.
