EastEnders Spoilers: Lofty and Mary To Return To Walford After 30 years

Two of EastEnders original cast members will reportedly return to the soap after 30 years since they made their last appearance. The Sun newspaper reported that Tom Watt and Linda Davidson will reprise their role as Lofty Holloway and Mary Smith and will be back on screens next year.

According to a source, “Lofty and Mary The Punk are two of the most memorable characters of the original set of stars. It’s staggering to think it’s been more than 30 years since they were last on the Square but soap fans will be delighted to hear of their comeback.”

EastEnders Spoilers – Lofty And Mary’s Comeback

Lofty and Mary are set to make their comeback as part of a storyline that will see Dr. Legg, who is also one of the show’s original characters, being killed off. Dr. Legg’s health is deteriorating and he’s expected to meet his demise by February. Lofty and Mary are expected to make their reappearance during his funeral.

Watt and Davidson were part of the original line up of 26 characters when the show made its debut on screen in 1985. Linda Davidson played Mary, a punk rock groupie and a drug addict who recently had a baby when she arrived at the Square.

Meanwhile, Tom Watt played Lofty, who was a barman at Queen Vic. He fell in love and got married to a single mother, Michelle Fowler. Unfortunately, their relationship did not last that long and when they broke up, Lofty decided to leave Walford for good.

Last EastEnders Appearance In 1988

Both Watt and Davidson made their last appearance on the show in 1988 and never had any brief stint on it or any other soap for that matter, ever since. Both of them have left the acting industry for good. Now, Watt is a sports journalist while Davidson has her own social media agency.

After a three-decade hiatus, they will both reappear on the TV screen. Watt and Davidson are expected to start filming their scenes on EastEnders in the coming days.
