Julie calls Abby (Kate Mansi) and tells her she needs to divorce Stefan (Tyler Christopher) and they will prove to everyone that Gabi (Camila Banus) has been behind all of this. Julie assures Abby her secret is safe with her, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) asks what secret. Julie accuses Chloe of eavesdropping. Julie tells Chloe she was on a personal call, it has nothing to do with her. Chloe begins to cry and tells her she and Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) broke up. Julie had no idea Lucas was leaving town.
Chloe can’t believe Lucas didn’t talk to her before making this decision. Julie tells Chloe that it was obvious because she and Lucas weren’t meant to be together. Julie tells Chloe that breakup brings you closer to your one true love. Julie arrives home and tells Doug (Bill Hayes) the tree needs moved to the right. Julie is glad everyone is there and asks Eli (Lamon Archey) about him and Lani (Sal Stowers) who confirms they are together.
Julie reminisces more about the past with her grandparents. Julie tells them about putting David (ex-Gregg Marx) up for adoption and coming back home a year later. Julie says through that twist of fate she got to raise David and he left her two grandsons, Eli, and Scotty (ex-Rick Hearst). Julie meant to buy mistletoe but ended up with pot mistletoe.
General Hospital’s Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) shows up to say bye to Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), but she isn’t there. Julie tells everyone that Lucas is there to say goodbye. Doug tells Lucas they will miss him. Julie tells Lucas that Salem will always be his home. J.J. (Casey Moss) finds Lucas’ ornament, and he hangs it on the tree. Lucas is waiting on his cab to the airport and says goodbye to Tom and Alice; he will be back someday.
Doug brings out a cake with candles and tells Julie it has been 50 years ago today since she returned to Salem. Doug sings as we see scenes from years past 50 years. Doug asks Julie if she wants to make a wish, but she already has everything she ever wished for and kisses him.
Days of Our Lives’ J.J. and Doug are getting down the Christmas ornaments to decorate the tree. Doug asks how J.J. is; he’s worried about his mom and Abby. Doug isn’t asking about them; he wants to know about J.J. J.J. tells Doug that he likes his new job and it’s challenging.
Doug warns J.J. that Julie is thinking about inviting someone from the club for the holiday, J.J. isn’t ready to move on yet. Doug suggests that J.J. is still in love with Lani but doesn’t believe they could be together again. Doug offers J.J. eggnog. J.J. goes to the hospital, Theo (ex-Kyler Pettis) calls him as he steps out of the elevator.
Days of Our Lives’ Lani is hanging a wreath on Eli’s door, and he invites her to go help put of the tree at Julie’s. Lani tells Eli it’s nice of him to invite her, but she feels it would be weird to show up with him. Eli says they can go help with the tree and then go on that first date.
Lani and Eli arrive at the house with the tree. Eli sets up the tree and Lani talks to J.J. about her and Eli’s relationship. J.J. tells Lani that Eli is a good guy and she deserves to be happy. Lani and Eli go for a walk in the park, and she tells him she’s sorry Lucas is leaving. Eli wants to woo Lani properly. Eli asks about dinner and a movie.

Days of Our Lives’ Will (Chandler Massey) and Lucas talk about him moving to be close to Allie (ex-Carolyn and Campbell Rose). Will is going to miss Lucas. Lucas tells Will he is proud of him and going to miss him. Lucas goes to see Kate (Lauren Koslow), and she asks about dinner this weekend. Lucas tells Kate he broke up with Chloe and is leaving Salem. Lucas asks Kate to keep an eye on Will while he is gone. Kate tells Lucas she will, but Lucas senses that something is wrong.
Kate tells Lucas she and Will disagreed, but things will be ok. Lucas asks if Kate and Will are having issues, she says she seems to be driving them all away. Kate hopes that Lucas does a better job than she did. Lucas assures Kate that she was a great mother and always had his back. Lucas tells Kate he loves her, they hug and say their goodbyes. Kate goes to Doug’s place for a drink she and Chloe miss Lucas already. Chloe thinks Kate believes she ran Lucas away. Chloe tells Kate that Lucas got his desire to take care of his kids from her.
Days of Our Lives’ Leo (Greg Rikaart) wants to know if Sonny (Freddie Smith) is going to marry him or not. Leo keeps questioning Sonny who asks why he should marry him when he loves Will. Sonny says he doesn’t have any other option but to say; Will says hell no as he walks in the room. Leo threatens to go to the police station with the photos when Will tells Sonny he’s not marrying him.
Sonny stops Leo and tells him he has nothing to talk to the police. Leo tells them what story he will tell the cops. Will isn’t going to let Leo do this to Sonny, he will confess first. Sonny has another idea on how to fix this mess. Will wants Sonny to let Leo go to the cops, Will argues against it. Will tells Sonny they just found each other, he’s not going to let him marry another man. Leo wants to get married today.
