Big Things Up Ahead For Coronation Street’s Alya Nazir, Sair Khan Hints

Coronation Street’s star Sair Khan hinted that her character Alya Nazir will have a lot of things going on for her next year. Sair, who is set to join the “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” jungle, said she would be thrilled if her character will play a part in an interesting storyline.

In an interview with Digital Spy, she said: “I’ve had chats with [producer] Iain [MacLeod] and I know a few ideas that he had – but I don’t really know which one they’re going to lead with; which one they’re going to go with.”

Although she knows she’ll have a hectic schedule at the beginning of next year, she’s looking forward to what’s in store for her in the soap. When asked if Alya will continue to be her bitchy self, Sair said without giving too much away that her character will be going through some testing times. Sair also added that she’ll get straight to work on as Alya on the soap once she gets out of camp.

Alya’s behavior has not gained her any favor among viewers. It is a quieter period for her character after recently selling the factory to Carla Conner upon realizing that it’s what Aidan would have wanted.

Sair will be one of the “I’m a Celeb” campmates this weekend. She’ll be with other celebrities like James McVey, John Barrowman, Emily Atack, Fleur East, Anne Hegerty, Nick Knowles, Harry Redknapp, and Malique Thompson-Dwyer.

She’s very excited to show who she really is and that her personality is far from what viewers see when she plays Alya in Coronation Street. She debuted in the ITV soap in 2014 as a member of its first Muslim family. Her role asks her to be uptight, serious, and stern. She’s the exact opposite in real life and that is what concerns her as she goes into the jungle. She’s a fun person who loves to laugh and goof around. She wants people to like the real her.
