Colin (Tristan Rogers) knows that he needs to get Jill’s (Jess Walton) money back on ‘The Young and the Restless’. This undefined investment of her money supposedly has gone south, so quick cash needs to be obtained to compensate for what he termed a temporary loss. Considering his past (or continued) mob ties, is it too hard to believe that Colin had Scotty (Daniel Hall) kidnapped?
Lauren (Tracey Bregman) received a call from her son on Valentine’s Day, but the connection dropped. Y&R has transformed this returned character into a media member who is supposed to be in an unnamed danger zone somewhere in the world.
Paul (Doug Davidson) later advised Lauren that Scotty was missing and possibly was being held against his will. Then she received a phone call where a $10 million ransom demand was made. Coincidence, or Colin’s plan?
Jill was at the mansion attempting to recuperate when Colin happened by. He was there to pick up his belongings, not expecting to see his wife at his now-former residence. On that particular episode, Colin appeared resigned to the fact that his marriage was over and appeared to say goodbye to her before leaving, as Esther (Kate Linder) ushered him out.
Mrs. Atkinson later promised Katherine (played by the late, great Jeanne Cooper) that she wouldn’t take Colin back. The Duchess smiled at her nemesis, via the photo of Mrs. C., with seeming approval. A great scene for old-school and newer fans alike.
Colin is crafty. He had asked Cane (Daniel Goddard) to intercede on his behalf by asking Devon (Bryton James) to cover Jill’s missing money. After being rebuffed, Colin pondered other options.
Jack (Peter Bergman) advised Jill that he’d be glad to sell her his stake in Fenmore’s when she had the funding. No character in Genoa City and no fan in the audience can reject the idea that Colin would be above committing another crime in order to respond to the consequences he’s facing for having lost Jill’s fluid cash savings. If he can refill Jill’s coffers she’ll be able to complete her deal with Jack and possibly forgive her husband.

The $10 million Colin would obtain by ransom is likely more than the amount he stole from his wife. Of course he would have to pay kidnapping accomplices and retain a percentage for his own time and effort in this devious proceeding. Some people can rationalize anything, meaning both Colin and Jill.
