Hollyoaks Spoilers: Is Shane Sweeney Dead Or Alive?

Where in the world is Hollyoaks’ uber bad guy Shane Sweeney (Michael Salami) and in just what condition? Earlier in the week the villain, along with Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed), was seen laying at the bottom of a cliff after the two fought and went airborne.

At first glance both characters looked to be goners. They were prone on the ground, their unmoving bodies appearing to be lifeless.

The bombshell scene was preceded by a sensational plot in which Shane kidnapped and locked up both Joel and Cleo McQueen (Nadine Rose Mulkerrin). He left the fickle couple locked up in an isolated engine room, and their future looked bleak.

Both were sure they were going to die in the remote enclave, so Joel found the courage to confess his true love. In return an emotional Chloe admitted that she loved Joel as well. Following their exchange, the two became intimate.

But alas, evil Shane returned to the engine room, and their demise looked like a fait accompli. Luckily for the two lovers, Darren Osbourne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) was wise to Shane and followed him out to the isolated area.

All heck broke loose as Darren attempted to help the prisoners escape. In the ensuing chaos, a crazy foot chase took place on the sands.

Ultimately Shane grabbed unto Cleo, and in response Joel threw himself at Shane. What happened next unfolded like a horror movie to Cleo and Darren’s eyes.

Joel and Shane went airborne, with nowhere to go except the rocky outcropping below. As Cleo and Darren looked on, neither man moved, and a gruesome reality set in. Would fate be so cruel as to take a second boyfriend from Cleo in the span of less than a year? No!

As Channel 4 viewers now know, Joel survived the horrific fall. But what about Shane? The trio on the beach tried to wake the baddie, but ultimately left his seemingly dead body for the police to find.

Except, when the police showed up, there was no body! Is Shane alive?
