Emmerdale News: Former Rachel Breckle Actress Gemma Oaten To Holby City

Gemma Oaten is best known for her role as Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale 2011 to 2014. Rachel’s main story line was her one night stand with Jai Sharma which led to the birth of their son Archie. The custody battle over Archie was brutal with both parents fiercely detesting one another.

Rachel was in a long term relationship with Sam Dingle for most of her stay in the Dales and the couple went through many ups and downs including the shocking domestic abuse story line in which Rachel was the abuser.

It was after her behaviour was discovered that Rachel fled the village back in 2014.

The soap star has now been cast as Nurse Sydney in Holby City, the very popular hospital drama. The actress looks overwhelmingly different.

In Emmerdale, Gemma wore her hair slicked back into a bun and androgynous clothing whereas as Nurse Sydney, she is entirely feminine with her hair down and wearing make-up. The look suits her well and fans have responded as well asking her to stay on the show as a regular.

However, it is her hair that has got some fans in a twist as the character is a nurse, she should technically have had it tied up for health and hygiene reasons, even though the show is not always one hundred percent medically accurate, this is a bit of a blunder.

Nurse Sydney was shown trying to get her patient a bed in the hospital and fighting with Fletcher, which caused quite a lot of chemistry. The actress will be returning to Holby City next week but any further role has not yet been decided. Gemma did state that she found working on set “a dream.” Could this mean she is likely to take up a more permanent roles adorning scrubs? With little chance of Racheal Breckle making a return this seems far more likely.
