EastEnders Spoilers: Linda Marlowe’s Exit Nears, How Will Sylvie Die?

“EastEnders”spoilers tease that  Mick Carter’s world is about to rocked yet again. In a shocking turn of events, his ornery mother/grandmother Sylvie dies, leaving the family stunned and reeling. But maybe just a bit relieved?

Sylvie has suffered from dementia, but show exec’s are keeping details of her death, which occurs onscreen next month, close to the vest. How will Mick handle the death of someone so close yet so divisive?

For most of his life the Albert Square barman thought that elderly Sylvie was his grandmother. When he learned that his sister Shirley was really his mom, he was left feeling betrayed and angry.

His outrage grew when he discovered that dear old mum tried to kill him by pushing pregnant Shirley down a flight of stairs. Sylvie was never going to be in line for Mom of the Year award; years ago she abandoned her family and only reentered their lives because she needed help.

Apparently, Sylvie didn’t mellow much in her golden years. The elderly lady liked to annoy her fellow residents at her care home and was ultimately asked to leave.  In response, Tina, Mick’s kindly younger sister took it upon herself to look after Sylvie’s welfare.

But when Mick learned the awful truth about his twisted upbringing, he kicked the spinster to the curb.

It’s now known that Sylvie has died, and funeral scenes have been taped. Yes, the Carter family shows up to give her a hearty sendoff!  The funeral scenes will air at the end of April.

Linda Marlowe has done a fantastic job portraying the plight of slowly losing one’s faculties. The 76-year old actress played Sylvie with both nuance and force, revealing the condition’s complications to a wider audience.

The ginger-haired actress signed on to the BBC One soap in 2014 and immediately caused turmoil and drama for the Carter family.
