EastEnders Spoilers: Hot New Summer Storyline As Phil Mitchell Returns To Walford

The summer promises to be hot, steamy and full of drama on BBC One hit sudser, “EastEnders.” For starters, viewers can look forward to the long-awaited return of mechanic Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) following his life-saving liver transplant that took place off camera in Italy.

Showrunners are promising a huge summer storyline, and Phil, who was front and center prior to his operation, will be in the thick of things. What trouble will Phil, whose hard drinking ways necessitated his transplant, kick up this time around? And what part will Sharon (Letitia Dean), who returned to Albert Square in May without him, play?

Steve’s on-screen daughter Louise, played by Tilly Keeper will also figure into the scintillating storyline, and she’s already spilling some insider secrets. According to The Sun, Keeper has revealed that, “It’s a very big storyline between all of us. We can’t say too much, but expect big drama.”

Show executive Sean O’Connor stepped in to provide a few additional details, however. “Phil returns in a moment of crisis for the Mitchells,” he divulges, “But he is a changed Phil from the exhausted lion that left the square … his days of being a hard man are coming to an end and he has had a real wake-up call after the transplant.”

A redeemed Phil back in Walford; is it even possible? Apparently! Phil’s medical crisis has reportedly resulted in a major wake up call for the troubled man.

In fact, viewers witnessed Phil at the end of his rope prior to his operation. While still in his hospital bed, the despairing man took the depressing steps of planning his own funeral. What else could he do, without the guarantee of a life-saving transplant?
