‘The Young and the Restless’ News: Sharon’s Storyline Irks Viewers – Fans Familiar With Destructive Personality Type

Everyone knows that Sharon (Sharon Case) should have told the truth on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Everyone except Sharon, apparently. Now that the Sully McAvoy reveal is about to drop, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Dylan (Steve Burton) will be crushed. Both brothers would have surely supported Sharon if she would have been forthright. But they were denied the opportunity to do so, along with the facts about an innocent child whose actual name is Christian Newman.

Dr. Sandra Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush) is responsible for igniting this fire. She’s the one who wouldn’t let go of her teenage grudge. Choosing to blame Nick, when she voluntarily accepted his dare and took a risky jump into the Newman Ranch pool. Then, she immaturely held onto bitter feelings for decades even though she fully recovered and Victor (Eric Braeden) paid all her medical bills.

Sandy chose to involve Sharon in her bizarre baby switch scheme. She orchestrated Christian’s removal from Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Nick’s lives and then presented him to Sharon as her newly born son. But, after Sharon’s mind cleared she suspected what had happened. It was at that point that she should have immediately told Dylan, Nick and Sage what she recalled. Together, everyone could have gone to a paternity testing facility and confirmed the truth about Sully’s paternity.

Sharon should have been a hero. Instead, she turned herself into a goat. How many times have viewers and devoted fans of this character seen this storyline play out? But, the rub in choosing to critique this well-worn fictional territory is reality itself.

Would it be fair to say that some viewers are aware of people in their own lives who are just like Sharon? Misguided souls who continue to make or repeat mistakes indefinitely. Individuals who might be able to keep their impulses in check for awhile, but then go off the rails.

Of course, some viewers know this personality type. So, could it be that they are equally bothered by a storyline that didn’t have to be written in this direction and are irked by recognizing whoever whenever they see Case’s character act out again?
