‘General Hospital’ Speculation: Is ‘CarSon’ In Trouble – Will Carly Be Able To Forgive Sonny For Lying?

This week on ‘General Hospital‘ Carly (Laura Wright) looked truly crestfallen when she walked into the #Julexis wedding chapel to find Sonny (Maurice Benard) leaping out of his wheelchair and overpowering the crazed Dixon. Yes, he had stopped Dixon’s terror spree, but, Carly realized, she had no idea that Sonny’s recovery had advanced to this point. He had lied to her again.

When Sonny slipped that giant diamond on Carly’s finger a few months ago, many viewers cringed. They wondered why a couple who had been married and divorced four times already would think a fifth marriage was the right thing to do. This seemed an especially valid point when they seemed to have the whole good friends/co-parents thing figured out. Why mess with a good thing, particularly when their romantic couplings had been unsuccessful in the past?

So, some fans now think, “I told you so,” as Carly pleads with Sonny, asking, “How long have you been lying to me?” And they say, “Of course,” as Sonny raises his eyebrows and puts his hands up in blameless surrender as he says what has become his relationship mantras: “You knew the risks of being with me when you got into this relationship,” and, “I lied to protect you.” Both are sides that could win over in the battle going on in Carly’s heart.

But will Carly accept the explanations she’s heard so many times as she and Sonny have both loved and co-parented? Given the enormity of what happened this time and how differently it could have gone down had Sonny been totally honest with Carly all along, one has to wonder.  As a result of Dixon’s hunting Sonny down after Morgan’s (Bryan Craig) blundering attempt to interfere in the arms deal, Kiki (Hayley Erin) is on life support with a bullet in her back, Nathan (Ryan Paevey) has been shot and wounded, Morgan is strapped to a hospital bed in a severe manic episode, and Carly’s trust in is Sonny shattered. One could see how Carly could have had it this time.

Yet many hope she hasn’t had it, truly believing that #Carson is meant to be. And her love for Sonny did seem to be taking over, as Carly took in the scene of the arms deal in its aftermath, Kiki’s blood all over her, then gently rested her forehead against Sonny’s for comfort.
