‘Days Of Our Lives’ Interview: Melissa Reeves Dishes On Matthew Ashford’s Return, Daytime Emmy’s, Plus An Upcoming ‘DOOL’ Custody Battle

Emmy Nominated ‘Days of Our Lives’ actress Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) recently sat down with Michael Logan for an exclusive interview on TVInsider. In their talk Reeves dished on a few things such as; being nominated for this year’s Emmys, playing the pain killer addicted Jennifer Rose Horton, her character’s downfall, the return of Matthew Ashford as Jack and more.

When the topic of her Emmy nomination was touched she emphasized that since the last time she was nominated back in 1988 she since then has not submitted a reel. The nomination she received in the Outstanding Support Actress category was due to a member in her PR department named Jason Looney who selected and submitted a reel on her behalf. She highlighted how “sweet” it was of him to do that while giving him all the credit. Reeves went ahead to mention how much she thought her co-stars Kate Mansi (Abigail), her on screen daughter, and Kristian Alfonso (Hope) were deserving of a nomination in spite of not receiving such.

In regards to Jennifer’s new found drug problem, Reeves shared with Logan that things are about to get so much worse for her. Everything will begin to fall apart according to the actress and this is where Matthew Ashford comes in. According to her, Ashford will show up in her time of need, most likely as a ghost. It is not confirmed whether Jack will resurface alive, but Reeves believes that either Jennifer will see Jack as a ghost or her conversation with him will all be in her mind.

On the note of her pairing with Greg Vaughan’s Eric she shares “They are such tragic, desperate characters and both are hurting so much. They found solace in each other…and then Greg leaves the show! I’m, like, “Oh, great. I’m abandoned!” Later on the interview, Reeves shared something surprising. It seems Jennifer will try to battle with Chad (Billy Flynn) for full custody of Thomas. What will lead to this custody battle is anyone’s guess at this point.

Reeves also confirmed that she will be in attendance at this year’s Emmys and to that end we wish her all the best. So Days fans, do you think Reeves will win the Emmy? What do you think of Ashford’s return? Are you sad that Vaughan is leaving, breaking up the story between him and Reeves?
