‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) Interview: Camryn Grimes And Greg Rikaart Discuss The Future Of Mariah And Kevin’s Relationship

“The Young and the Restless” stars Camryn Grimes and Greg Rikaart sat down with Soap Opera Digest to talk about what it’s like to work with each other, the disappointing sex scene, and if Keriah will end up together in a romantic relationship.  The unlikely duo revealed what is like to portray “Y&R” featured lost souls.

Greg ‘s first episode aired in 2003, two years before Camryn left the show after Cassie Newman died. As Cassie, they didn’t share scenes together. Cassie was a teenage girl, and at the time Kevin was sort of, well creepy. Greg said, “Can I throw you under the bus a second, Cammie? When I first started at Y&R, she had a HUGE crush on Daniel Graziadei. Camryn piped in to reveal that she still does, “I mean who doesn’t love him, he’s wonderful.”

When she returned years later as Mariah, TPTB started placing them in scenes together here and there to test how fans would react. Greg noted, “It was fun from the beginning. They are such an unlikely couple, which is part of their charm and the fun. When I was filming the scenes, it didn’t feel any different than any other scenes I shot with other actors. When you see it, you can see their chemistry together is wonderful – and it is very different.”

Greg said he was surprised because Camryn turned out to be a wonderful actress. He remembers her as Cassie- a sweet little girl. Now, Mariah is all grown up and full of attitude, and it works. Camryn said, “I remember at one time telling Greg that People are really liking our scenes. For me at least, Marian and Kevin’s popularity made me want to get our scenes just right- for the fans.”

Greg recalled Jeanne Cooper telling him, “No Matter how serious a scene is, don’t forget to have fun. I have always remembered that to this day. I have never lost my sense of humor, even when the fans have not embraced my character.”

Camryn explained that even though they had the bad experience having sex, they haven’t let it ruin their friendship. “It’s not she doesn’t feel anything for Kevin; it’s just it wasn’t what she was looking for- and vice versa,” Camryn noted. She noted on her Periscope on Tuesday that she was not aware of any pregnancy storylines for Mariah- so fans, it looks like she won’t have a baby and give it her mother, Sharon {Sharon Case].
