‘The Young And The Restless’ News: ‘Y&R’ Fans Not Happy With Current Storyline, Launch Petition Calling For Regime Change

It’s not a secret that fans have not been happy with the way Chuck Pratt, Jr. has written the storylines on “The Young and the Restless,” especially the sweep months in the past year. Fans have recently gotten all up in arms about the way November sweeps is being written. The “The Young and the Restless” has a reputation of being believable and not as far-fetched as some of the other soaps; however, recently, the storylines are becoming far-fetched and repetitive.

It looks like that is all changing. The fire scene last for hours, yet no one but Stitch [Sean Carrigan] was seriously hurt. And, after all the escaping Ian Ward [Ray Wise] has done over the past year, they are going to presume him and Patty [Stacy Haiduk] as dead? The whole storyline made the fans scratch their heads, for the most part.

Chuck Pratt, Jr. is one of those writers who truly believed fans want to see these catastrophic events on the soaps. Fans don’t want these disasters; they want drama. And by drama, they don’t want to see baby kidnapping, paternity shake-ups, and father and son infidelity storylines. They want real drama like who killed Diane Jenkins [Maura West].

The fact is with Jill Farren Phelps calling the shots; many fans have given up on their favorite daytime soap opera. “The Young and the Restless” has a huge following, with almost five million viewers each day. Most soap operas have half that, and they are happy with it. It’s time to hire an actual fan of the show as head scribe. Fans are calling for someone who knows how to create drama without the need to kill people, kidnap babies, or switch paternity back and forth.

If you are like most fans and think Chuck Pratt, Jr. should be out of a job, you can voice your opinion at the new petition. The petition is calling for the firing of Chuck Pratt, Jr. and Jill Farren Phelps. One fact that you cannot argue is that if a big change isn’t made soon, “The Young and the Restless” could face cancellation.  Fans must take a stand before it is too late, and the soap is taken off the air.
