‘Days Of Our Lives’ News: Greg Vaughan Leaving ‘DOOL’ – Eric Brady Exits

“Days of Our Lives” spoilers reveal that fan favorite, Greg Vaughan has elected to leave the NBC daytime drama. Vaughan has a colorful daytime and prime-time soap opera career spanning over several high rating shows, including “The Young and the Restless,” Charmed,” and “Beverly Hills 90210.”

In 2012, Greg debuted as Eric Brady, who was a previous journalist turned priest. According to the exclusive news via Serial Scoop, the handsome actor elected not to continue as Eric and asked for his character to be written off the show.

Eric Brady has not had an easy life. In 2000, Eric [portrayed by Jensen Ackles] left Salem as a journalist [photographer]. When he returned over a decade later, he was a priest. Two years ago, Eric was drugged and sexually assaulted by Kristen DiMera [Eileen Davidson]. It took him some time to recover from the tragic incident. Vaughan gave a stellar performance as he was haunted by the memories of Kristen overtaking him, and he was left with the emotional scars of the encounter. He went as far to question his life’s meaning, and if he was meant to be a priest after all. After some time, he left the priesthood, and went back to his photography roots.

Since he recovered, he has been busy nurturing his lifelong friendship with Nicole Walker [Adrianne Zucker]. Serena Mason [Melissa Archer] welcomed him back home in 2012, only see her murdered several months later.

Vaughan announced in August that he renewed his contract with “DAYS.” What he didn’t say was that his contract was short term- just so they could wrap up his character’s storyline. The news of his departure shocked his fans, as they were expecting him to stay in Salem at least until August of 2016.
