“State of Bacon” was released on Google Play and iTunes Sept. 5 and the trailer for the mockumentary can be found on YouTube. The short film offers a tongue-in-cheek look at the annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Iowa. Jason Cook picked Sept. 5 as the release date because it was International Bacon Day. Yes, there really is an annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Iowa and an International Bacon Day!
Described as a “kinda real but mostly fake tale of bacon fellowship” Jason Cook gives us an interesting – and hilarious – look at the world of bacon enthusiasts and the annual bacon fest that takes place in Iowa – the pork capital of the world. According to the narration of the “State of Bacon” trailer on YouTube, pigs outnumber people 10 to 1!
If the trailer for “State of Bacon” is any indication, Jason Cook had a lot of fun making this mockumentary. The “reviews” included in the trailer will having you laughing out loud. One such “review” comes from the star of the movie Babe – who calls it “The scariest film of the year.” Then there is the “quote” from actor Kevin Bacon – “The most incorrect bio-pic I’ve ever come across, I’m floored by its inaccuracies.”
People running around in costumes – tomatoes, eggs, ears of corn – wearing cowboy and Viking hats – running through the streets. It’s all included in “State of Bacon”! While you’re waiting for Shawn-Douglas Brady’s return to “Days of Our Lives” check out his hilarious mockumentary. Bacon lovers unite!
