'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Jess Walton Is Outstanding – Jill's Vulnerability Perfectly Projected

Jess Walton (Jill) once again proved why she ranks with the all-time best actors on ‘The Young and the Restless’. The vulnerability she projected through a tour de force of hospital scenes allowed Jill to initially rejected the fact that she’d had a heart attack, be shocked by her doctor’s detailed treatment description, accept the support of Billy (Jason Thompson), Esther (Kate Linder) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) and admit that she still loved Colin (Tristan Rogers) despite him having emptied her bank account.

It can be reasonably argued that Walton, who turns 68 on Saturday (February 18), is the leading grande dame of daytime. Since joining the cast in 1988, this veteran actor became the definitive Jill. Of course many great moments with Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) will always stand as her most memorable acting achievements on Y&R. But fans are well aware that Walton has continued to deliver solid work since Cooper passed in 2013.

So, Jill forced Coin to admit that he’d emptied her personal portfolio and previously dipped into her funds as well. While he didn’t spend this stolen stash frivolously, his business investment was unauthorized and a full breach of marital trust.

Everyone told Jill that she couldn’t and shouldn’t trust Mr. Atkinson, including his son Cane. But her heart has overruled her mind since she came to know this apparently lovable rogue. Angst resulted from Colin’s antics in the past. This time around Jill believed that he’d triggered her heart problem, though that theory didn’t prove out.

It seems as though ‘Jilin’ will remain together, though Colin will surely have to find a way to remedy his wife’s money situation. He created the financial hole Jill fell into. Now he’ll need to creatively resolve this problem, or hope that the business he invested in will turn around.

Considering Jill’s health and financial weakness, Jack (Peter Bergman) will likely maintain in control of Fenmore’s 49 percent stake for the time being. Whether she’ll be able to meet his exorbitant asking price remains to be seen.
