Emmerdale Spoilers: Emma Barton To Be Killed Off – Gillean Kearney’s Days Are Numbered

Is “Emmerdale,” villainess Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney) so evil that she must be killed off? Apparently the husband-killer is beyond redemption and death is the only solution. Say it isn’t so!

Sorry folks, it’s been revealed that the lovely Dales girl will be killed off later in the year. And not surprisingly, the actress who portrays the scheming brunette isn’t keen on leaving the hit sudser.

Last year viewers witnessed wicked Emma kill her husband James, then nastily played Ashley Thomas, a dementia sufferer who witnessed the whole sordid affair.

Gillian Kearney and show execs were in talks about the direction of the murder plotline which apparently took a turn south leaving bosses to shut down the idea that the character would return after a hiatus. And that isn’t sitting well with Kearney.

Even though her character is a murderer, the star believes that the character can be redeemed. TPTB don’t agree, however.

According to The Sun, the exit is storyline dictated. Speaking anonymously, a source told the paper that the writers needed a big, flashy summer plot, and determined that the devious Emma would be part and parcel, as well as the sacrificial lamb.

The source added that the storyline makes sense since Emma has done too much damage and had to be made to pay for her actions.

The upcoming events actually sound quite delicious! “They are going to be writing in more devious storylines for her and building her into a complete psycho,” leading up to quite a dramatic death for the bad seed.

It’s claimed that Kearney wished to leave the door open for her character, and actually discussed the idea with the show’s brass. In the end there was no compromise between the two parties since the writers want to present a spectacular and grisly final death scene.
