EastEnders News: What Has Samantha Womack Been Doing Since Ronnie Mitchell’s Death?

EastEnders News: What Has Samantha Womack Been Doing Since Ronnie Mitchell's Death?Everyone was shocked by Ronnie Mitchell’s sudden and very permanent exit from EastEnders this winter. Ronnie and Roxy’s (Rita Simons) epic deaths were far more than fans were expecting this New Year in what was dubbed one of the year’s most shocking story lines. The two sisters had become a staple on the square and cannot be easily replaced.

But what is Samantha Womack working on now? You’ll be surprised to know that it is quite far away from the soap genre, in fact she is going to be in a rather large production of The Addams Family. The usually stunning blonde is morphing into the dark sultry Morticia Addams, including black wig and long black gothic gowns.

The 1964 TV show best known for its morbid and gothic aesthetic was revamped into films during the 90’s and is to this day a Halloween cult classic. So it’s no wonder that the stage is taking on such an iconic story.

However, this production written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice is not the Addams Family story line we are used to being spooked by. The play follows a grown up Wednesday (played by Carrie Fisher) as she falls in love with a normal non gothic boy which becomes rather the controversy in the play, as you can imagine creating a lot of humour.

It is not just the EastEnders star heading up this production, it is filled with British talent. Most notably Carrie Fisher a popular Youtuber and author (not to mention Tom from Mcfly’s sister). She plays Wednesday Addams and just like Samantha has adapted to the Gothic costumes with ease.  Also Les Dennis, who Corrie fans will recognise as Michael Rodwell husband of Gale, sadly no longer on the show. He plays the loveable Uncle Fester and has been said to even outshine Morticia.

The show opens in April 2017 and is set to be a hit! It is going on a UK wide tour including London, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
