Coronation Street Spoilers: Alison King Returning as Carla Connor?

Bigtime drama is returning to, “Coronation Street,” in the form of dynamite actress Alison King. Rumor has it that she’s set to reprise the role of Carla Connor, the long-suffering heroine who departed the cobbles last year.

Insiders are spilling the beans on the 44-year old actress’s comeback to the ITV sudser, which appears to be sooner rather than later. According to the Sun, show execs were sorry to see the brunette leading lady go, and are more than open to her return.

“Carla is a hugely popular character with viewers … for a few months now they have been in secret talks and the word among the cast is that Ali has agreed.”

King departed the soap last May after nine years in the role of beautiful but tormented Carla.

It was thought that King wanted to book other gigs, and it’s been suggested that she turned down opportunities to appear in, “Strictly Come Dancing.” At the time the talented star was quoted as saying that she wished to more time with her daughter, Daisy.

Carla popped up at the Rovers Return in 2006, hoping to start her own business. Sadly, her husband Paul died within a year, and the character went on to have a tumultuous, drama-filled existence on the cobbles.

She took up with Tony Gordon, who in turn kidnapped her and held her hostage. Carla then sank deep into alcoholism, but was redeemed through her relationship with Peter Barlow. In 2011 Carla was raped by Frank Foster. Following her horrific ordeal, she attempted suicide.

Once again, Peter was her knight in shining armor, and rescued Carla from herself. The two were then briefly married, followed by Carla’s marriage to Nick, which ended with an annulment. What sort of excitement might Carla get up to if she returns to Corrie?

Neither King nor “Coronation Street,” bosses have commented on her possible return, but the comeback writing appears to be on the wall!
