Coronation Street News: Corrie Paying Tribute To Horrific Manchester Attack In An Amazing WayThe Manchester Attack has left the country and the world stunned as 22 innocent people lost their lives at an Ariana Grande concert this week. The truly devastating attack has not divided the country but brought it together, including in the entertainment business with worldwide support.




Coronation Street itself is set in Manchester, the community may be fictional but that does not mean that they were not affected. The Soap is filmed in the city of Manchester and most of the actors are living in the area. It is their lives which have been directly affected.

The show’s Bosses released a tweet this week, a picture of flowers and candles saying that “we stand together” which has been the over whelming message of this disaster. This image was also aired directly after the episode which played the day after the attack.

The Soap will also be placing a commemorative bench on their set dedicated to the 22 people who sadly lost their lives in the terror attack. And to everyone who was injured and affected by the terrible hateful act. The soap is taking on the message that we should not be defeated as a country by this sadness, Sally Dynevor (Sally Webster) has said that the bench is an act of love when we most need it.

The Soap lost one its super fans in the attack and tweeted to honour his memory, Martyn Hett was famous for having a tattoo of Deirdre on his leg. He was an avid supporter of the show and his loss was tragic.

It is reassuring to fans that the actors are rallying and trying to spread messages of positivity in this very hard time. The UK’s threat level has been raised which means a heavier police presence and stricter times ahead but that does not mean that people are afraid. The Soap will be unchanged in its messages of hope.
