‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Neil Winters’ Family History To Be Revealed – Lily’s Curiosity Fuels New Storyline

Kristoff St. John joined the cast of ‘The Young and the Restless‘ in 1991. Neil went on to become one of the most popular characters in Y&R’s history. His pairing with Victoria Rowell (Drucilla) formed one of the show’s most iconic power couples. Their baby, Lily (Christel Khalil), remains an integral part of the show. However, while Neil’s family has grown during the past two-plus decades, his lineage has generally remained a mystery, until now.

Enduring tales that include familiar characters often expand current plots by deepening history. In this instance, ‘The Young and the Restless’ offered a warm scene sequence where Lily and the twins were creating a family tree. After Jill (Jess Walton) moved a few apples (Billy, Jason Thompson and Vickie, Amelia Heinle) that Charlie (Aiden Clark) and Mattie (McKenna Roberts) created, Neil entered the Genoa City Athletic Club rooftop pool setting and had a discussion with his only known child. Spoiler alert?

Lily’s natural curiosity about her father’s background is shared by longtime fans. When asked, Neil mentioned that he was raised by his dad after his mother left. He also said that he lost touch with his father after college, doesn’t know if either of his parents are still alive, and claimed to be at peace with this circumstance.

Clearly the scenes in this episode establish a coming arc for the Winters’ clan. Whether Neil will regain contact with his dad, or find out what happened to his mother after she left her sons, remains to be seen. Shemar Moore recently exited CBS’ prime time series ‘Criminal Minds’, where he played Derek Morgan from 2005-2016. So, it’s possible that Malcom, who was mentioned as being part of the Winters’ family tree, could return again, even if just briefly. Malcom last visited GC when Neil was blind in 2014.

As ‘The Young and the Restless‘ continues to be refocused, executive producer Mal Young is providing beloved characters with fresh storylines. This tact indicates that he knows what the hardcore fan base wants. Neil’s upcoming journey should therefore prove to be engaging, as it will allow a solid actor the ability to further flesh out a character he’s solely embodied from the beginning. And with that, St. John’s work within this arc starts.
