‘Days Of Our Lives’ News: ‘DOOL’ Bringing Back 70’s Character Dr. Valerie Grant – Casting Notice Released

Casting news for today from Soap Opera Digest is  indicating that ‘Days of Our Lives’ is looking to bring back the character of Dr. Valerie Grant. The casting call describes Valerie as a “beautiful African-American woman who should be in her mid 50’s.”

The call was sent out recently and states “Courage and perseverance are two character traits that people admire her for the most. And while her experiences might have hardened other people and made them cynical, Valerie has grown unto a wise and compassionate person who still occasionally gets tripped up by her own mistakes”.

According to the Soap Opera Digest, the show is seeking well experienced actors to play the role of Valerie. The role is said to be a recurring one and the successful candidate will begin to tape episodes in mid May, 2016. If the show indeed finds someone and begins taping in May, this means we will not see the hired actress until sometime in June of this year.  (DOOL is no longer 6 months ahead on their taping schedules.)

Dr. Valerie Grant is not a newly created character, long time viewers of the show will remember her presence on the canvas back in the 1970’s. Valerie was a role played by three different actresses in the form of Rose Fonseca, Tina Andrews and Dianne Sommerfield. Valerie’s existence on the canvas was between the period of 1975 – 1982 with Andrews playing the role from 1975-1977, Fonseca from 1977-1978 and Sommerfield from 1981 – 1982.

So with the show’s request for someone with experience, who do you think could possibly fill this role?
