Corday divulged that the changes from Ryan and Dena will not air until after the “DAYS” break in August for the Olympics. However, the executive producers very excited and cannot wait for the new team’s writing to air. “We need to do something big to jump-start the show in August, after the Olympic break, which we will do,” Corday assured fans in the Soap Opera Digest interview.
On Josh Griffith’s decision to leave “Days of Our Lives” – Ken wrote Josh a lengthy letter thanking him for the tremendous effort the writer made in turning the NBC daytime drama around. In the year that Josh worked with Dena the soap opera made a huge comeback.
“[Josh and Dena] did it right. They turned the show around. The audience for the show grew 50 percent in the demographic and that is huge. For any show to do that over a year is pretty big.”
The executive producer says that Higly and Griffith’s phenomenal effort of time and resources poured into the 50th anniversary show paid off in a big way. Fans were thrilled when legacy characters were brought back for guest appearances and wrap up storylines. Viewers may not have been happy with the demise of some of their favorites, but they were happy that quite a few will remain in Salem, at least for now.
“Days of Our Lives” viewers won’t see jarring changes to the storylines. The writers, under the direction of Dena Higly and Ryan Quan are shaping up nicely and fans should be pleased.
And of course Corday is thrilled that NBC has renewed “DAYS” for another year. The soap opera will air its 13,000 episode during the 51st season.
