‘The Young And The Restless’ Never-ending Storylines: Summer’s Paternity Test And Delia’s Hit-And-Run Revisited

“The Young and the Restless” fans are dedicated and often will stand by their favorites no matter what type of legal trouble they may find themselves in. Two of the most talked about storylines is Sharon Newman [Sharon Case] switching Summer’s [Hunter King] paternity results and debating whether Adam Newman [Justin Hartley] really ran over Delia [Sophie Polono].

Sharon Newman felt threatened by Summer- that much is a given. She felt like her connection to Nick [Joshua Morrow] created a link to Phyllis [Gina Tognoni], someone she had little respect for. Phyllis and Sharon’s history goes back to a time when Cassie [Camryn Grimes] died, and Nick choose to confide in her instead of Sharon.  In her mind, she wasn’t erasing Summer’s connection to Nick, but removing Phyllis from his life.

Ever since the incident in 2013, fans have debated if she really did swap the results. Many “Y&R” fans don’t believe she did it. Their reasoning was simple; Sharon isn’t smart enough to pull off a paternity swap. Sharon Case, Sharon Newman’s portrayer, talked with Michael Fairman, and she explained that she DID switch the paternity results, and she loved the storyline. She noted that Sharon was a strong woman; she often goes through difficult experiences only to come out on top in the end.

Adam came to Genoa City in order to work closely with his father, and get to know his siblings. Since his arrival on canvas, he has not been a favorite of the town. He has pulled some elaborate schemes in his past, but when Delia was hit, he was trying his best to make the RIGHT choices. He was married to the love of his life, Chelsea [Melissa Claire Egan] and had a son.

The way the scenes were filmed, it is extremely hard to figure out if he really was the driver who hit her. He is CONVINCED he hit her, but could he be wrong?  Of course, he could; the spoilers have suggested that another driver may have hit her. At the present moment, the writers of the show want fans to think the driver was Adam, and he will likely walk free when his father finally gets his way with the Judge Moxley [Jensen Buchanan].
