‘The Young and the Restless’ Interview: Scott Elrod Talks Portraying Joe Clark On Y&R, Fans and Working With Christel Khalil

Soap Opera Digest sat down with “Y&R” villain Scott Elrod to get his take on how it feels to finally have a contract role on a popular daytime soap opera. Scott dished on what is like to portray Joe, his biggest hurdles, fan club meets, and working with Christel Khalil.
Scott revealed that before landing on “Young and the Restless” he hasn’t been on a soap in quite a few years. His last show was on “All My Children” in 2004. He briefly appeared on “Days of Our Lives” as a cop. He said, “I only said two words. That was it.”
He said his biggest mistake was on the first day of filming. He didn’t fully understand how to read a call sheet. He misread and believed he only had to knock on the door on his first day. “I was wrong. I will never make that mistake again. I got a crash course in reading the call sheet, correctly,” Joe explained. He has to quickly memorize 12 pages of script.
He noted the first fan event was a surreal experience. The fans are so loyal and seem to know you, but you know nothing about them. “They are all amazing people and give us actors a reason to bang out the best material possible,” Joe stated. “It’s always a pleasure to meet and talk with our fans,” he noted.
He recalls a funny exchange with Christel Khalil (Lily) on the first day filming with her. “On that day I told Christel not to even think about putting her tongue in my mouth,” he said smiling. He said she had a look of utter shock. She couldn’t tell if I was serious or joking. She replied, Oh, I would never do that.” I told her I was only joking and we both shared a laugh. He said he calls her his spider monkey because the first kissing scene she wrapped her legs around his waist like a monkey.

i think scott elrod is sexy & very hot – i think he should be paired with ashley abbott (eileen davidson)
I think Scott Elrod is one of the most handsome men that I have ever seen on my T.V. He is an amazing actor and a great addition to Y & R. At the moment, he is my only reason to switch on this show. I was heart broken when Michael Muhney and Billy Miller were let go and I pray that Scott will be around for a while.
Yes, I would like to see him with Ashley.
Oh and he’d be great on Dancing with the Stars..
