‘The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy or ‘General Hospital’ Jason Morgan: In Which Role Do You Prefer Steve Burton?

I think we can all agree that even if Steve Burton was reading the phone book dressed in a Hefty bag, it would be smoking hot, but there’s are definite schools of thought on which of his two plum soap opera roles you prefer. We’ll take a look at each of the roles, then ask you to vote in the Soap Opera Spy poll and share your comments – do you prefer Steve Burton as General Hospital’s Jason Quartermaine or The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy?

General Hospital – Jason Morgan

Steve Burton was a fresh-faced lad of 21 when he came on screen as the head-injured former rich boy Jason Quartermaine turned mob enforcer Jason Morgan. As Stone Cold, he was undeniably sexy in his snug black t-shirts and ubiquitous black leather jacket and jeans. He was a ruthless killer that struck fear in the hearts of the enemies of mob boss Sonny Corinthos and inspired lust in a long list of ladies of Port Charles. His two main relationships seem to reflect his two halves – mostly good girl Elizabeth Webber appeals to the Quartermaine side while naughty girl Sam McCall appeals to the Morgan side.

The Young and the Restless – Dylan McAvoy

In contrast, Burton was in his early 40s when he started his stint as damaged war vet Dylan McAvoy with tons more personality than his former Stone Cold role. Since Dylan’s return from the dead and back to Genoa City, he’s had some challenges to face from being spurned by Avery Clark to Chelsea Lawson lying about Connor’s paternity. And now Dylan has to deal with his new love Sharon Collins lying about miscarrying their baby. There’s definitely a lot more affection and a lot less killing in this role and more depth of emotion that’s challenging Burton to dig deep.

What do you think? Do you prefer Steve Burton as Y&R’s Dylan McAvoy or did you like him better on GH as Jason Morgan? Vote in the poll below then share your thoughts in the comments below!
