‘General Hospital’ RUMORS: Jason Thompson Out – Patrick Drake Leaving GH?

“General Hospital” Casting news rumors are in, and it looks like fan-favorite Jason Thompson could be out as DR. Patrick Blake on the ABC daytime drama. It has been speculated for quite some time that he was involved in a contract dispute, but it looks like now that he decided to walk away from his role and will NOT renew his contract, according to ABC Soaps in Depth.

A few months ago, Soap Opera Spy reported that Jason Thompson was in the midst of contract negotiations. He had stated a few months ago that he felt he had done everything he could with Patrick’s character. It sounded like he was pondering leaving the show but wasn’t sure if it was time. At the time, it was speculated that Thompson would sign a contract to renew at least one more year. The newest ABC Soaps in Depth reported that not only is he expected to exit his role of Dr. Drake; he may be headed to another soap right away.

According to the report, Thompson has let it be known to his co-stars, and friends whom he will not sign another contract. It isn’t clear what this could mean for Patrick and Sam Morgan’s [Kelly Monaco] relationship. It seems “General Hospital” would probably recast the role- especially since his character is such a core character.
