'General Hospital' News: Anthony Geary And Emma Samms Admit To Changing Lines In Script - Mistake Outrages Fans!

It seems like General Hospital’s Anthony Geary, who plays Luke Spencer, and Emma Samms, who plays Holly Sutton, made a tiny mistake on a recent episode of the ABC daytime soap opera – and fans are not too happy about it.

General Hospital recently aired some live episodes and, of course, mistakes were acceptable, since the show was live. This time, however, General Hospital is airing pre-taped episodes and so fans find it unacceptable that there was a mistake on one of the most recent episodes that inaccurately depicted a past event on General Hospital.

Everything went down on Tuesday, June 30 when Genie Francis, who plays Laura Spencer, had a heart-to-heart conversation with the character of Holly Sutton. The conversation was much anticipated and was supposed to resolve their troubled past.

As you know, Luke Spencer slept with Holly Sutton and got her pregnant while he was still married to Laura. This all led to Holly getting pregnant with Ethan, played by Nathan Parsons. Up until now, Holly and Laura never had the chance to meet face-to-face and discuss this issue. Fans were excited to see the drama that would ensue after these two met. Unfortunately, during the moment, there was a line that made it seem as though Holly was not aware of Luke’s look-alike cousin, Bill Eckert. Fans quickly voiced their opinion and made it known that Holly was fully aware of Bill Eckert, and General Hospital fans began to attack the writers for making such a big mistake.

General Hospital head writer, Ron Carlivati, ended up going responding to the drama on Twitter by posting a photo of the original script and said, “Today’s script made it clear Holly knew Bill. Don’t know why the line was changed.”

Now, it turns out that Anthony Geary and Emma Samms were actually to blame for the mistake. Emma Samms took to Twitter and said, “Big confession re GH. Tony & I couldn’t remember the Bill/Holly thing so changed the line. Not the fault of Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini.”

It is good to see these two actors taking responsibility for their mistake and we hope that fans will move on from the drama.

      Actors make mistakes it happens. I wish fans would stop acting like this was some sort of conspiracy theory.

      I noticed the mistake immediately but then I’ve been watching GH since the ’80’s. I remember when Holly and Bill Eckert were involved, back when Holly had a doppelganger named Paloma. I get that Emma and Tony forgot but Frank Valentini should have said something instead of just letting them change the line or call RC to confirm it before they changed it. No excuse for the actors doing that.

      Of course, I noticed the mistake? How could a devoted fan not notice? And what everyone is NOT talking about is the BIGGER mistake: Holly said she “didn’t know about Lucky” and “didn’t know” Luke was married at the time. And Luke told a different story of their “rendezvous.” He said they were in a “life and death” situation and they didn’t know if they were going to live beyond the moment. Holly made no mention of eminent danger; she said also it “happened over one weekend.”
      These mistakes are not “small” ones. Indeed, they diluted any moment of real drama and wiped out years of history and the true legacy of the Luke and Laura story, the story/history that changed daytime drama–and left an impact on all the fans at the time of its making. No wonder Genie’s eyes were glistening with tears during the whole exchange!

        GH forgets that “General Hospital” fans know there show and mistakes just won’t pass.
